Hey thanks for reading...I'm Jeff and this is my first blog. I will be primarily posting on sports topics because that is what I care the most about (don't tell my girlfriend that) and I think that creating an environment for open dialogue and discussion is going to be a fun activity for hopefully all 3 of the bloggers who may read my stuff. I'll tell you more about my background and personal team affiliations later. Now onto the good stuff...
NBA PLAYOFFS
West Series: Lakers 3 Spurs 1 -- Ginobili where art thou? Manu should've been the one with the ball in the closing seconds of Game 4 in San Antonio yesterday. I know he struggled with his shot for most of the game (2-8 fg) but he hit a clutch 3-pointer to pull the Spurs to within 4 pts with less than 50 seconds to play in the game. He has more late game experience closing games than Brent Barry and probably had the confidence to take the big shot when the game was on the line. Seriously though, the x-factor in this series has been the Argentinian's disappearing act. We're talking about a guy who averaged 21 pts 4 rebs 6 assists throughout the New Orleans series and against L.A. is putting up 13.5 pts 2 rebs 3 assists (which deceptively looks a lot better than he's actually played because of his impressive Game 3 stats). This is the unsung hero of the Spurs here. Duncan is the rock. You know what you're going to get from the 20 and 10 guy night in and night out. Ginobili is the glue and right now this bottle of Elmer's is empty.
East Series: Deeetroit 2 Boston 2 -- Boston, congratulations! You finally won a road playoff game. Couldn't get one in Atlanta. Couldn't get one in Cleveland. But you go into the Palace of Auburn Hills with that horrendous Mason shouting over the PA system "Deeeeeetroit Basketball" and you win one. The Pistons were 34-7 at home during the regular season and you turned it up a notch. What do they say...a playoff series hasn't started until someone wins a game on the road. Well, this one is underway for sure and it should go the full 7 games if these teams hold true to their ways and take care of business at home. Billups' hamstring still isn't right. The dude goes 1-6 and 3-12 in back-to-back games and his history of being clutch just doesn't mesh with the numbers he is putting up so far in the Eastern Conference finals. Prediction for tonight's game: Celtics win by 5.
Thanks for reading Edition 1 -- If I completely bombed on this one, give me a break and give me another shot next time in MrBrewtown's World of Sports Column 2 about MY Milwaukee Brewers and the thoughts from the first two months of the 2008 MLB Season.
